Bio:
Larry Hogan was born in Limerick in 1939. He was active on the folk scene in Ireland during
the 1960s. He formed the We Four folk group in Dublin in 1967. They
split in 1970.
He was signed as a solo artist by Polydor and released his solo debut LP
"Simple Song of Love" in 1974. This was a collection of folk songs based on themes from the
Gospel. He also presented Sounds Religious on RTE Radio.
He recorded a second LP in 1978 with an extensive cast of session musicians. I have not
heard it.
Hogan also did some production work, producing Tommy Drennan & The Monarch's
"The Rising of the Moon" single on Ember in 1968, for example.
Notes: Released on the US Tara label, launched by former MCA executive Dick Broderick in 1973, which licensed European artists such as The Irish Rovers (the Emigrants Emigrants LP), Mocedades (Spanish Eurovision winner), Manufactured and distributed by Famous (affiliated with Paramount/Gulf+Western), the label got lost in legal wrangling in the mid-70s. As far as I know Hogan's LP of the same period was never released on Tara.
