Bio:

Declan Sinnott was born in 1950 in Wexford where his family ran a record shop. He learned to play guitar, moved to Dublin to meet more musicians, and ended up in Tara Telephone with Eamon Carr. He may also have had a stint in Homer's Knods.

He was a founder member along with Carr of Horslips in 1970 at the age of 19. Horslips began playing straight forward rock & roll until they were offered a spot on a six-week Irish language show 'Fonn' on RTE and so ended up playing Irish tunes to fill in the set. Unhappy with this change in direction (both musical and image wise, according to his website), Sinnott left Horslips in 1972 after two years. Other sources claim he left over the bands appearance in a Miranda orange drink advert.

Sinnott may have been involved in mid-70s bands Gandydancer (not sure of name) and Homegrown but I have no more details about either outfit.

Sinnott joined Sunwheel, with bassist Johnnie Campbell and drummer Dave Whyte. All three were later in Southpaw, formed in 1978, with songwriter Jimmy McCarthy. Southpaw split ca 1980, and Sinnott joined Moving Hearts in 1981. In 1982, while performing with Christy Moore, he began to play with support act Mary Black and eventually joined her band and stayed with her for over ten years, becoming musical director of the Mary Black Band and producing her records.

Sinnott continunes to perform and record, and has produced many recordings over the years, many at his own studio.
