Bio:
ICI were a new wave band described as falling somewhere between XTC and Thomas Dolby.
Three quarters of the original lineup had all previously been in The Posers:
Mick Hussey, Tony Hamilton and Greg Kane. Hussey was the main singer/songwriter in the band.
ICI recorded some Dave Fanning sessions and appeared on RTE's Non Stop Pop (with another
ex Poser Fintan Morrison playing keyboards) and
JobSuss TV shows.
ICI's demo tape was reviewed in Hot Press in August '83. It was praised for containing clever songs
but the rhythm section was described as "only adequate". Song titles included "Heaven Help", "Twist Away" and "Vigilantes".
"Twist Away" featured in Dave Fannings end of year roundup (1983?). Trevor Knight (Auto Da Fe)
played keyboards
on some ICI recordings and Colin Dolan returned the favour playing some keyboard
tracks on Auto Da Fe's "Man of Mine.
Mick Hussey left the band after Colin Dolan failed to show up for an RTE TV appearance. They split soonafter.
A CD collecting Posers and Ice Cube International recordings was released in 2011.
Notes:
All tracks digitally remastered by Stepehn Devaney at Longford Studios.
