Bio:
Limerick band formed circa July 1985 around the time Live Aid by
Derek O'Sullivan (guitar, vocals, band leader), and Frank Dolan (drums) both ex Gimik.
They were joined by John Collins (keyboards) and Aidan Browne (bass), either or both of whom had
played in Frontline and/or The Denis Allen Band.
Jacqui Larkin (vocals) joined 1986.
Their live set consisted mostly of 80s pop covers (Dire Straits, A-Ha, Nik Kershaw, Tears
for Fears, Huey Lewis, etc) plus a few originals.
They released their debut single in 1985. A second single 'Hold On' was planned for release
on Jump Records in 1986 but instead it came out on Ritz. Both singles are pumping pop rock,
the ultimate example of which would be Arena Rock period Jefferson Starship (of "Jane" and
"We Built This City" fame): synth, guitar, pumping bass, loads of drums fills, and with that
80s production sound which dates records of the period, and which makes acoustic drums sound
like syn-drums. Both singles are well executed.
