Bio:
Band formed by veterans of the 1970s Derry punk scene. The original
lineup was Charlie Herron (guitar), Mickey Herron (bass) and Brian McMonagle (drums)
who invited Dave Harvey (vocals) and Jim Walker (guitar) to join. Harvey
and Walker then relocated the band to London, where they became a trio
(Lineup #2).
Releases were on their own Fun After All label through Music For Nations.
Singer Dave Harvey croons like Edwyn Collins over music comparable
to Lloyd Cole & The Commotions with a touch of Simple Minds. But the real
question is was he really involved in an early lineup of
Quarterdeck and if so did he wear the white jumpsuit?
Cast Of Thousands appeared on RTE's Borderline on 17th November 1987.
Mark Megennetty (bass), Nick James (guitar) and Nick Graham (keys) all played
with Cast Of Thousands.
Mc Monagle and the Herrons went on to form Hex Opera and The Big Electric Ceili Band
and released an album ("The Best Kept Secret") and EP ("Peadar's Tune"). They are still active, playing
with the Hitmen Showband among others.
